The exterior landscape development is the last stage of the Oirase Keiryu Hotel public space renovation project, which began in 2017.
Before the renovation, the approach from the road to the hotel were almost only parking lots and vehicle traffic lines. Therefore, in order to solve problems such as reducing the parking area and snow removal area and defective guest room views, we redesigned the entire approach facing the road to make it suitable for a hotel in a national park.
We made a new driveway and a canopy to prevent snowfall, and deliberately made the existing porch only for pedestrians. The parking lot was developed in a remote area, and the vacant space was newly created with a planting belt, a water basin, an outdoor lounge on a wooden deck, and a fire place. This realizes to the hotel the convenience of pedestrian access on the premises, the special feeling of staying in the Oirase Gorge, and the dignity of approach. The water basin is respected on the Oirase Mountain Stream, and plants are selected only grow in Oirase area. In addition, the natural stones in the garden were reused from the natural stones excavated during the construction process. Due to the harsh natural environment, it takes many years for all plants to grow, but we hope that the time for growth gives to the hotel guests the special feeling of staying in the Oirase Gorge.
