Oirase Keiryu Hotel Public Space Design 2 Lounge and Activity Reception Renewal

Renovation of the lobby lounge area of the Oirase Keiryu Hotel West Building (built in 1996).
The West Building is a building of the same size as the East Building and is connected by a
corridor, but it had a lobby lounge of the same size as the East Building. We proceeded with
the implementation design in accordance with the plan of clearly separating the use and
function of the two lobby lounges in the east and west as stipulated in the previous master plan.
Therefore, the lobby lounge in the West Building was designed to be a place dedicated to
supporting the activities of hotel guests, as well as a place where they could relax in
outdoor and indoor activities and indoor clothes.
The plan was to set up a large passage through the large lobby lounge from east to west,
and to use it differently in the north-south zone. In the lounge in the north zone, has a
fireplace canopy "Kashin" created by Taro Okamoto, and a nice view of the mountain stream,
we set the function of Books & Café like a large living room. The window side of the lounge
is converted into the outdoor terrace, for the corner after bathing relaxing space. Also, part
of the lounge is set up as a space for children to play and read, as well as for nature learning
lectures held every night.
The southern zone opposite the passage has been developed as a base for outdoor and craft activities.
There is an entrance and exit suitable for outdoor walks, so it also functions as a waiting for the
Keiryu shuttle bus.
The lounge and the passage of "Keiryu-Base" are gently separated by lattice walls, moss art, graphic
walls, waiting benches, etc. This allows guests staying in the West Wing rooms to navigate
the long corridors without getting bored, while at the same time allowing guests to circulate
throughout the lounge.

奥入瀬渓流ホテル西館（1996年竣工）のロビーラウンジエリアのリニューアル。
西館は東館と同規模の建物で渡り廊下により繋がっていますが、東館と同規模のロビーラウンジを持っていました。
先行マスタープランで定めたこの東西二つのロビーラウンジの用途機能を明確に分ける方針に沿って実施デザインを進めました。
そこで西館のロビーラウンジは、ホテル滞在者のアクティビティサポートに特化した場所として、
アウトドア／インドア・アクティビティ、そして館内着でくつろげる場所を目指しました。
計画は広いロビーラウンジを大きく東西を抜ける通路部を設定し、その南北のゾーンで用途を使い分けることとしました。
北側のゾーンのラウンジには岡本太郎作の暖炉天蓋「河神」があり、渓流への眺望があるので、
広いリビングルームのようなBooks & Café としました。さらに屋内の窓際の部分を屋外テラスとし、
せせらぎを感じられる湯上がりコーナーとしました。またラウンジの一部は幼児のあそびと読書コーナー、
毎晩行われる自然学習レクチャーの空間に設えました。
通路反対の南側のゾーンはアウトドアやクラフトのアクティビティの拠点となる「渓流-Base」として整備しました。
屋外散策に適した出入り口があるので、渓流シャトルバスの発着待合の機能も兼ね備えています。
ラウンジと「渓流-Base」の通路部は格子壁、苔アート、グラフィックウォール、待合ベンチ等でゆるやかに隔てられています。
これは西館客室に宿泊するゲストが長い廊下を退屈せずに移動できると同時に、ラウンジ全体のゲストの回遊を可能にしています。
